Barbara has been a professional photographer for over thirty years. Her passion for photography started in her early teen years. After attending Rhode Island School of Photography she worked for various studios honing her skills.
Her primary focus (pun intended!) is now on horses, her greatest passion. In the beginning of her career she had been photographing weddings and portraits. Both of these disciplineshave helped her to understand light in many different conditions and to learn how to best use the light and backgrounds for the best image. Refining posing for portraits, seeing the light, and understanding horses and the relationship we have with them has all made her the photographer that she is today.
The combination of photography and horses brings her great joy and pride to be able to capture a priceless treasure. Images that are chosen are refined to be the best possible final product for beautiful wall décor that is timeless or a coffee table album to remind the client of allof the wonderful memories.
She is internationally known for her work and frequently travels to Florida and as far as Hawaii for equine sessions. Plans for sessions in European nations and Australia are now being scheduled. Barbara has earned PPA’s (Professional Photographers of America) Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman degrees and has received the Accolade of Lifetime Photographic Excellence Award from WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International).
Being a horse owner and rider helps her to understand the needs of the client for equine portraits. There are so many different and creative ways to photograph a horse and owner. There is the traditional confirmation portrait or horse and owner portrait study and even a more painterly approach with either infrared or other methods.
Barbara lives in northeast Ohio with her son, two dogs, sunconure, and her horse Amir. |
